Chinese-American Entrepreneur Allen Ku Donates to Diamond Bar High School, Chinese School, and Dance Academy

*(World Journal, Sunday, May 1, 2022)* – Allen Ku, Vice President of the Diamond Bar Chinese Association, representing local Chinese businesses, made donations on the 30th to Diamond Bar High School, Diamond Bar Chinese School, and the Dance Academy. Allen Ku stated that this is not his first donation and certainly won't be his last. He hopes that this money will help the schools improve their facilities for the benefit of more students.

Allen Ku immigrated to the United States in 1995 and settled in Diamond Bar. He considers this place his home and the place where his children grew up, so the community and education have always been his focus of concern. His company has also been active in the local community for many years, allocating $100,000 annually for charitable donations, with a particular emphasis on education, health, and environmental protection. Over two years ago, he established a non-profit foundation to make donations to organizations such as Diamond Bar High School and the Chinese School. This donation ceremony aims to serve as an inspiration for more people to join in community charity work.

Allen Ku hails from Taiwan and graduated in electronic engineering from Mingxin Technical College. After gaining several years of work experience in Taiwan, he was dispatched alone with a suitcase and $1,000 to various destinations in Europe and the United States. Through a stroke of luck, he learned that a company specializing in keyboards and mice, established in California in 1994, was up for sale. At the age of 32, he decided to invest his hard-earned savings of $300,000 into acquiring the company. He developed higher-quality, lower-priced high-tech products, expanding the product line to include scanners, speakers, webcams, and more, doubling the company's revenue from $2 million. Today, his company offers up to 300 different products.

Following the outbreak of the pandemic, his company's internet cameras were used for various online meetings and rapidly became the second-largest brand of its kind in the United States. Consequently, he was awarded the 44th Taiwan Entrepreneurship Model and Entrepreneurship Mutual Assistance Award for Overseas Chinese in 2021. He mentioned that the pandemic altered the way people interacted, shifting from traditional means to virtual video methods. Therefore, his company experienced rapid growth, and they introduce various related image products every year.

Reuben Jones, Principal of Diamond Bar High School, expressed gratitude for Allen Ku's generosity. He mentioned that Diamond Bar High School has students from diverse ethnic backgrounds, and this donation will help the school acquire necessary equipment and enhance the quality of education.

Dr. Walter Wu, Vice Mayor of Walnut, expressed appreciation for Allen Ku's company as an outstanding high-tech enterprise in Walnut City. He thanked him for giving back to the community schools and expressed hopes that the next donation target would be Walnut High School.
