![]() On November 17th, as Thanksgiving, a Western tradition, approached, the East Los Angeles Chinese community organizations TACF and Diamond Bar Chinese Association came together for the first-ever Winter Warmth event at the Walnut/Diamond Bar Sheriff's Station. The aim of this event was to promote police-community harmony, express gratitude for the services of officers in community security matters, and enhance community safety. On that day, community organizations brought love-filled lunches and gifts such as blankets for the officers. Allen Ku, Vice President of the Diamond Bar Chinese Association and President of Adesso, along with Dr. Chia Yu Teng, donated checks of $2000 each. In attendance were Theresa Lee, Director of the Walnut Valley Water District; Chuck Sun, Founder and President of TACF; Alice Hsiao; Vice President Hsiu Hsiu Kuan; legal advisor Lawyer Hsiao-Wei Fang; and more than twenty other members of TACF. The Winter Warmth event is one of the activities organized by TACF to promote police-community relations since its establishment. At 12:30 PM, Chief Steve Tousey and Deputy Chief Mario Avola of the Walnut Sheriff's Station personally welcomed the visiting guests. Chief Tousey expressed his gratitude for the courage shown by the Chinese community in collaborating with the Sheriff's Station to combat crime. He particularly mentioned that recently, ten TACF volunteer patrol members successfully underwent a rigorous selection process to become station volunteers. These volunteers, known as VOPs, patrol the community in white police cars at various times each week, assisting the police in addressing manpower shortages and difficulties. In addition to preparing Chinese lunch boxes on that day, each station personnel received a warm blanket, bringing warmth to both their bodies and hearts. The prepared Chinese lunch consisted of roast duck, roast chicken, and beef rice boxes, which were highly appreciated by the Walnut Sheriff's officers and staff, who all praised the food. It is believed that this meaningful event will further strengthen police-community cooperation. Friends interested in joining the Volunteer on Patrol (VOP) program at the Sheriff's Station are encouraged to contact TACF at 626-7338788. Those who attended the event also included Theresa Lee, Director of the Walnut Valley Water District; Lawyer Hsiao-Wei Fang; Chuck Sun, Founder and President of TACF, among others. ![]() Thanksgiving: East Asian Community Organizations Extend Support and Appreciation to Police Officers ![]() Thanksgiving: East Asian Community Organizations Extend Support and Appreciation to Police Officers ![]() Thanksgiving: East Asian Community Organizations Extend Support and Appreciation to Police Officers ![]() |
