![]() Diamond Bar Chinese American Association (DBCAA) and the Chinese School held their fundraising annual meeting on May 20th, featuring a ceremonial transition of leadership from the outgoing President, Theresa Lee, to the incoming President, Allen Ku. The event emphasized their commitment to continuously focus on the future development of the younger generation. During the evening, Diamond Bar High School made a generous donation of $10,000, which received high praise and gratitude from the school's principal. Notable attendees at the event included California Senator Bob Archuleta, California Assembly Member Lisa Calderon, Mr. Liu Lunzheng, the Head of the Economic Division at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles, Mayor of Walnut City Wuliren Wu, Council Members Ritchie Cajulis and Jia-You Deng, Walnut Valley Unified School District Board Member Yi Tong, Diamond Bar's Vice Mayor Xiulin Liu, Council Member Zhi-bin Zhang, and various elected officials and community leaders, totaling nearly 500 participants. All of them acknowledged the contributions of outgoing President Theresa Lee and congratulated the incoming President, Allen Ku. During the event, Allen Ku, on behalf of the Adesso Nonprofit Foundation, donated $20,000 to the Diamond Bar Chinese American Association. In his congratulatory speech, Bob Archuleta praised the DBCAA for its remarkable ability to unite people of different generations and backgrounds, actively participating in various community events, promoting Chinese traditional culture abroad, and strengthening connections and friendships with the community and various ethnic groups, earning widespread recognition and appreciation. Theresa Lee, who also serves as a board member of the Walnut Valley Water District, has been actively involved in community service for an extended period. She remarked, "In the past two years, we faced the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic and school closures. However, the Diamond Bar Chinese School continued its educational mission under the leadership of Principal Wei Tang. Additionally, public safety agencies encountered unprecedented material shortages, prompting our first-ever fundraiser for the fire department. We also organized a Mid-Autumn Festival fundraiser, donating $60,000 to Diamond Bar High School and South Pointe Middle School. Later, during the Lunar New Year, we raised $10,000 for the police department. We aimed to lead by example, hoping they would feel our support." Allen Ku shared his connection with the Diamond Bar Chinese American Association, stemming from his children's involvement with the Chinese School, where they were introduced to the association. Deeply moved by the preservation of Chinese culture, he made a donation in 2017, establishing scholarships and grants in the name of his personal business, 'Adesso.' He expressed, "We all hold the belief of serving the public and the community. I am delighted to have the opportunity to learn from like-minded predecessors and to have earned the support and trust of everyone to become the new President. I hope to lead with gratitude." |
